Space Juniors NYC
Space Juniors NYC was the anitpodian counterpart to the Australian Space Juniors. After moving to NYC and singing in Mad Bomber, Micky formed the NYC version of the Juniors. John Lyons would be the key partner, who Micky renamed Johnno (not that it rhymes with Mono or anything). Originally it was a 3 piece and Micky played bass and Dean Jones played guitar. They did one recording at Timmy Tim's in Hoboken in 1992 with Rene Roth (Cosmic Psychos, Celibate Rifles) as engineer. The six song cassette, entitled Yes Indeed (in honor of Ray Charles) was later described as gold.
All of the line-ups played a lot, mostly in the East Village at Brownies, CBGB, Coney Island High, and The Continental. One afternoon outside Continental after sound check, Micky met Bingo Gazingo who was undiscovered at that point. He asked if he could read a poem and open for us and I said yes of course. He then showed up at all our gigs and introduced us, sometimes with really long poems, such as Psycho, that later got known by the local scene. Truck Master Jim took a real liking to Bingo and a couple of years later recorded a single with Bingo in his band at the time called the 8th Grade. You can say what you want, but Micky is the guy that gave Bingo Gazingo his start. Opening for the Space Juniors NYC was his opening.
Around 1995, Deano played drums and Johnno played guitar and the band reformed and recorded a handful of songs on Ludlow Street. These songs, with some live songs, and Yes Indeed, where compiled on a CD, called Space Logue 2000. It also includes the Mad Bomber recordings because at the time Mick thought it didn't make any difference because on a large scale nobody had heard of either band.
In 1998, D (D. Roth, Mick's real brother who was in the Australian Space Juniors later line-up) visited New York and together with Deano and Johnno did a Space Juniors re-union gig at the Continental.
